SD!: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW
Cody's Dash to the Main Event
July 3, 2010

by PyroFalkon
Exclusive to OOWrestling.com

Still on the netbook, sadly... I've got all the parts for the new computer, and it TECHNICALLY works, but Windows XP is refusing to boot for some reason. Or rather, it WAS: I did a new clean install of XP, but doing so killed my drivers. Which wouldn't be a big deal, other than I can't locate my driver discs for my wireless network card, which means I have no Net access, which means I can't get ANY drivers. Meanwhile, my college work continues to suffer... damnit.

I've given up for now, since it's Recap Night and I don't have to work tomorrow. I'll just open up my computer chassis again to see what my network card is (I forgot that too), get some drivers from Linksys.com, and hopefully get my main computer operational. If I can just get Net access, most of my problems will vanish.

Still, I have one big issue, and hopefully OO Nation can help me out. My old main hard drive had Windows XP on it, including all my files in my My Documents folder. The thing is, that one had the version of Windows that was failing to boot. So I did a clean install of Windows, though the old users (including me) still exist.

Here's the thing: I can't access the folder with my old files, even as computer administrator. While trying to get into my old user name (in the Documents and Settings folder), the computer throws me an error that just reads "Cannot access." I've tried accessing it in Safe Mode, through command prompts, and everything: no go. I absolutely cannot get into that folder, but the data (according to disk space beaten eaten up with that folder) is inaccessible.

Are there any solutions to that? How can I access that folder? Am I out of luck unless I go to a computer specialist? Any help you all can provide me, just send me an e-mail. I would greatly appreciate it.

Okay, enough of that. Let's get to SmackDown.

Segment 1: Our all-American dipshit is out here to start off the night. He reminds us that he declared last week that he's going to "make people suffer" for the injustice of the fatal four-way match at, of all places, Fatal Four-Way. Last week, he made Big Show tap (albeit after said tapping actually mattered in match terms) in a new Kurt Angle-inspired anklelock, and we see that again in video recap form. His point is that if he can bring down Show like that, who can't he bring down?

Jack Swagger switches topics to the Money in the Bank PPV, saying it's ironic that everyone is talking about that, which is the event (well, the match type) that started his ascension to world champion that he held up until two weeks ago. Jack's loss (which so totally was due to cheating) was so intense that the All-American American Dad (not the fun one that works in the CIA and lives with an alien mind you) can't talk or eat, and no one cares.

Big Show then comes out and stays on the stage, fires up some self-deprecating humor that makes fun of Jack's whining, but then turns subjects that he is still standing. He says Jack should have finished what he started... because since he didn't, Show is going to hunt him down and get some revenge. He begs Jack to try that anklelock one more time.

Jack declines, saying that he's got nothing to prove. Jack then subtly hypes his match against Rey Mysterio at the MitB PPV, and that he'll totally make Rey tap. Show counters that Jack is living in a fantasy where all these fans actually want him to win the title. In the same fantasy, Jack can break Show's ankle. But in Show's reality, he can break Jack's jaw. Show things a second, then says he's going to just break it now.

Show starts heading down to the ring, but then Cody Rhodes (remember, we at OO do not endorse Cody's new nickname, which is demonstrably false and stupid anyway) comes down and chop blocks Show's ankle. From there, Show eats a two-on-one beatdown outside the ring.

The heels get Show into the ring at one point, where Show finally starts to fight the heels off. Only then does Rey Mysterio hit the ring to make the save, though his presence simply makes the heels bail and retreat. Looks are exchanged, and we're out of the opening.

Pre-Segment 2: As he heads to the ring for his match, Dolph Ziggler is WALKING! (can't make a tilde, let alone a tilde-bang, with the netbook, damnit) and gets hyped by Vickie Guerrero. However, Dolph is distracted by Rosa Mendes doing jumping jacks. Vickie doesn't like Dolph looking at any jiggling tits but her own, rolls her eyes, and corrals him toward the ring.

Segment 2 [Singles Match]: Kofi Kingston defeats Dolph Ziggler (w/ Vickie Guerrero) by pin. Match was all right but nothing special, though Kofi's "nothing special" is more electric than half the rest of the roster. Match ended with the Trouble in Paradise because he yelled at Vickie for no reason after a near-fall.

Between Dolph undressing Rosa with his eyes prior to his match and his loss, Vickie is disgusted. She leaves Dolph as he rolls around in the ring from his swift head kick.

Segment 3: The Straightedge Society is in the back, hyping themselves up. CM Punk's arm is in a sling (as you might know that he's got a legit arm injury), but as Rick mentioned in the forums, is still being the best heel SD has going by using his wordhole. Serena is concerned about Kane, and thinks they should just admit to putting Undertaker in a Veggie Tales state. Punk says that admitting it is the last thing they're going to do...

But see, Serena is sad. See, she saw Punk's face as he went into surgery, and doesn't want to see him that broken ever again. It made her almost cry! Punk assures her that he and "Mr. Mediocrity" Luke Gallows will so totally finish off Kane tonight (Luke and Kane have a match) and then the SES won't have anything to worry about. Serena seems a little happier with that, but promises that if the guys can't take Kane out, she will. Tough little broad, ain't she?

Segment 4: As we come back from commercial, we're in the middle of The Peep Show, it seems. The ring is covered in black and has ladders everywhere, with Matt Hardy sitting near the middle of the ring. Christian's got the mic (and is wearing a ballcap for some reason). Christian says that he and Matt are two of the guys involved in the SD MitB, and Matt soaks up some cheers before they get down to business.

Christian actually slips into a pseudo-heel questioner, saying that last week, it was new to see Matt face Drew McIntyre and not get his head smashed. Matt continues that he... will... not...

...Christian interrupts with "win the SD MitB!" Christian gives him credit, that they are two who put the ladder match on the map. However, neither of them ever reaped the reward -- which I actually agree with, since I've always said Christian should have been given the push over Edge a decade ago -- and that one of them should win it. And it's going to be Christian, Christian says.

Matt tends to disagree. He names off some of their titles, mentions that neither has ever won the World Title, and that his time has come. And he wants to show that, so he starts to climb the central ladder that is, indeed, under the prop briefcase. Christian won't be one-upped on his own show, and climbs the ladder too, on the other side. They get in each other's faces at the top of the ladder, with Matt saying that whoever gets the briefcase will have his very life and career changed, and he will be the one to do so.

Christian and Matt actually decend the ladder simultaneously, and Christian says that he can't fault Matt for having all that confidence. He's confident too. But let's face facts, Christian says: neither of them are Drew McIntryre, never have been a Chosen One, and have scraped and fought for everything they earned. Christian is pissed that guys like him are just handed titles and title shots, and he's tired of getting shafted, so he will win it.

Matt counters, again, that he is frustrated too, frustrated that he never had a chance. He does generously say that he hopes they two are the final two fighting over the briefcase when it's all said and done, but he is sure he knows who will have it... And both guys together say "It's gonna be me!"

They (Broadly) gesture they each will win, but finally Christian decides to leave. Then he remembers he's not a pussy, and gets back in the ring. Matt's ready for him, punches him in the face, then shoves him head-first into a ladder. Christian crumples, Matt has nothing left to prove, and we fade out to commercial.

Segment 5: The same vignette plays for Alberto Del Rio. His mini-fauxhawk bothers the shit out of me for some reason, in addition to the fact that I have trouble understanding what the fuck he's saying. ADR says he is so totally the only honest man in the universe, and even we fans are jerkface liars.

Segment 6: Cody Rhodes is in the back, making out with himself in a mirror. He basically cuts a self-interview where he says that he humiliated Big Show tonight to prove he's going to beat him and everyone else in the MitB match. This despite the plothole that Cody didn't know he and Show were in the match when he attacked him earlier; the announcement was made between segments 1 and 2. Cody also says the word "dashing" about 40 times, just to piss me off further.

Segment 7 [Singles Match]: Kane defeats Luke Gallows (w/ Straightedge Society) by disqualification. Match lasted about 90 seconds, with Kane beating the living hell out of Gallows for 87 of those seconds. Then, Gallows did one move, and Kane responded by grabbing his throat, at which point the SES Masked Man involved himself.

Post-Segment 7: ...But it wasn't enough against Kane, who made short work of the Masked Dude and Gallows. Punk got in the ring, and got a hand around his throat for the effort. However, before he could deliver a chokeslam, Serena got a mic from outside the ring and declared that she has proof Punk is innocent!

Serena climbs the steps tentatively, but then explains that on May 31, the day Taker was taken down, Punk was "saving" Serena. With his dick, probably, but Serena doesn't say. Kane doesn't believe her, and readies the chokeslam again. Serena screams that she has proof, and kicks it to the Titantron.

Oh look, security footage of a bar. Apparently Serena was weak, and ordered a drink! Several drinks! And did shots with a bar douchebag! Who put his arm around her! Then Punk and the rest of the SES arrived. They scared off the douche, helpfully because Punk wore a ballcap rather than his Mysterio knockoff mask.

We cut back to the ring. Kane is upset, but does release Punk and storms away. Meanwhile, Serena drops to her knees and says she had no choice and just had to help Punk. Punk is angry though, rhetorically asks if she knows what she just did, and storms away. Not sure what that's all about, but Serena tears of whiskey will probably not stop at this week.

Pre-Segment 8: Chavo Guerrero is coming down to the ring. He declares to Vickie (who isn't there) that her "gringo boyfriend" couldn't get the job done, but he will, so after he kicks MVP's ass, he should get a shot at the Intercontinental Title.

Segemnt 8 [Singles Match]: MVP reverse-squashes Chavo Guerrero by pin. Chavo kicked MVP's ass for two minutes. Then MVP reversed a move, hit a Ballin' Elbow and his finisher, and made the pin. Whatever... I know we've been over this, but Chavo is so criminally underused. I know that'll never change, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Pre-Segment 9: Kelly Kelly and Tiffany hit the ring; the former has a singles match. I have to point out that during her walk-up, Matt Striker uses the phrase "Kelly Kelly has overcoming resiliency." It hurt my writery brain.

Anyway, Layla and Michelle McCool then hit the ring. They mocked Tiffany, then Michelle sucker punched Tiffany and threw her into the barricade. That effectively took her out of play, and Michelle jumped in the ring to start the match.

Segment 9 [Singles Match]: Kelly Kelly (w/ Tiffany) reverse-squashes Michelle McCool (w/ Layla) by pin. Michelle beat the fuck out of K2, until Tiffany finally recovered and clotheslined Layla. Michelle was distracted by this, so K2 ran up behind her and did a quick schoolgirl pin, her one (1) offensive move. Whatever, says I.

Segment 10: Alberto Del Rio is back with a new vignette, still in his villa, but this time wearing a suit. He puts himself over, I guess, but speaks at Randy Orton speed, meaning I could have crammed in a recitation of Ulysses's The Odyssey in the time it took him to complete four sentences.

Pre-Segment 11: Rey Mysterio hits the ring to talk. He says absolutely nothing of value. I mean, it's a typical "This title is great and belongs to all of us!" promo, which is totally within his purview and accurate for his character, but it's just not noteworthy at all.

Segment 11 [Tag Match]: Rey Mysterio & Big Show defeat Jack Swagger & Cody Rhodes by disqualification. Match was pure formula, nothing at all noteworthy. Rey was Face In Peril, Show was the attempted Savior, but had to make a second hot tag. Cody took out Show in the ensuing Pier Four Brawl, and continued attacking the ankle outside the ring.

In the ring meanwhile, Rey delivered a drop toe hold, setting up Jack in the 619. However, when Rey went for it, Jack caught his legs. Jack wiggled up, then slapped on the anklelock while Rey held the ropes. The ref counted to five, but Jack wouldn't give it up.

Jack contined not to give up the hold, and Rey even dropped to the mat. Jack held the anklelock for awhile, finally breaking the hold of his own accord, and left with Cody. Show hobbled over to Rey and apologized, but the message is sent.

Final Thoughts: Nothing here, folks. The whole episode was "decent but nothing special," below average and not really worth watching. Christian/Matt's promo was the high point, but mostly from Christian, as Matt still doesn't really know how to talk. SES is the most interesting thing going on, as sad as that is, but otherwise? Absolutely nothing to talk about.

Rating (out of 5): 2.0
