ONLINE ONSLAUGHT
WWE TV Spoilers...
May 29, 2002

by Rick Scaia
Exclusive to OnlineOnslaught.com

The apparent fire lit under the asses of the WWE creative team on Monday night has translated over to the SmackDown! brand, which will feature a show headlined by yet another seemingly PPV-caliber match-up.

If you don't want to ruin the surprises of Thursday's SD telecast (and the weekend's other WWE shows), just stop reading now and hit BACK on your browser...  but if you're the nosy type, just keep on going.

Here are the next few days' worth of WWE programming, as compiled from various e-mail reports from Monday and Tuesday's tapings.

WWE Heat
(Airs Sunday, taped Monday)

  • Jackie was brought out, apparently as the new color commentator, replacing Raven.
  • Matt Hardy beat Justin Credible
  • Steven Richards beat Crash Holly to retain the Hardcore Title.
  • X-Pac beat D'Lo Brown (goddammit!)
  • Raven beat Shawn Stasiak

WWE Velocity
(Airs Saturday, taped Tuesday)

  • Mark Henry beat the Godfather with a bearhug
  • Albert beat Hugh Morrus
  • D-Von Dudley beat the Big Valbowski, thanks to an assist from Deacon Bautista

WWE SmackDown!
(Airs Thursday, taped Tuesday)

  • In Calgary, a video highlight package and 10-bell salute to Davey Boy Smith aired on the FistTron, drawing a huge ovation.  It may or may not air as part of Thursday's show.
  • In the opener, Rikishi and Rico retained the tag team titles from Billy and Chuck.  Rikishi superkicked his own partner on top of a KO'ed Chuck for the win.
  • Dawn Marie made her TV debut as a legal assistant helping Vince McMahon sort out the whole Chris Benoit debacle.  Before she could get to freaked out by Vince's creepy come-ons, Chris Jericho interrupted, and moaned about having to face Faarooq later on tonight.
  • Backstage:  Maven got a pre-match good luck kiss from Torrie Wilson.
  • Christian beat Maven via pinfall, after Tajiri ran out and kicked Maven off the top rope.
  • Chris Jericho -- who was very popular in Calgary -- got a win over Faarooq when he used an exposed steel turnbuckle to his advantage.
  • Hulk Hogan issued a challenge to Vince McMahon, but was interrupted when Kurt Angle throttled him with a steel bar.
  • Undertaker came out, and granted a WWE Title shot to "top contender" Randy Orton.  Taker eventually dispatched the pesky Orton with a chokeslam, but then decided to continue the post-match attack.  Until HHH ran in to make the save, that is.  Afterwards, a challenge was laid down for a Taker/HHH title match, which is currently presumed to the the KotR main event.
  • Test upset Triple H after interference from Lance Storm and the Undertaker.  After the match, Taker continued his beat down on HHH until officials broke it up.
  • Tajiri and Chavo Guerrero beat the Hurricane and Billy Kidman in a very good little match.  The finish came when a message from Hurricane's arch-nemesis appeared on the FistTron, distracting him.  Tajiri caught him from behind with a kick for the pinfall win.
  • In a steel cage main event, Edge defeated Kurt Angle (still wearing his wig) thanks to help from Hulk Hogan.  Great action here, and after a ref bump, Angle actually escaped the cage and tried to leave.  But Hogan ran out and tossed him back into the cage, where he eventually was pinned following a top rope spear from Edge.  After the match, Hogan also tried to snatch away Angle's wig, but failed.  That left Edge and Hogan to do a post-match celebration for the live crowd.

Check out these shows as they air over the next few days... or just come on back and catch the recaps here at OO!
