NFL 2019

Figured it's time to get this thread fired up.

First week is basically in the books and some takeaways:

* The Dolphins might be the worst team in the history of pro football

* The Browns are still the Browns

* The Patriots are still the Patriots

* Antonio Brown has gone from great to asshole to possibly mentally ill - all in the span of four days.

Super Bowl Prediction:

Kansas City 34, LA Rams 13

"I hate it when I'm watching along at home and I'm envisioning certain common sense things, and WWE just leaves all that money on the table to do something that will have no result other than send viewers looking for something else."

Kinda torn. At least my Sundays are free now, but on the other hand I do love a good trainwreck-y shitshow. At least they've got a week of self-reflection in order to get their shit together so maybe next will be different. *checks schedule* Hey neat, their next opponent is the Patriots feat. Antonio Brown's first game back with something to prove!

As a Giant fan (and Eli) I can say that when Daniel Jones takes over, it won't make a lick of difference since the defense can't stop a runny nose with tissues and a cork.

Predictions:
NFC
Eagles, Vikings, Saints, Rams: Division winners
Dallas, Bears: Wild Card

Saints win NFC

AFC
Pats, Browns, Houston, Chiefs: Division winners
Ravens, Chargers: Wild Card

Pats win AFC (I will continue to do this until Brady/Belichick is dead)

SB LIV:
Pats over Saints 38-17

Welp, as Panthers fan I think I can already tap out this season after dropping our first two games at home. Cam looks like a shadow of his former self and his MVP season seems like a distant, distant memory.

And if you go back to last season, we've lost nine of our last ten games (with the only victory being against a Saints team that had zero starters playing). We might be able to give janerd's Dolphins a run for their money in the shitshow department!

Nope.

ETA: To expand. The Panthers aren't even in the discussion for the top 5 worst teams in football. Not when the previously mentioned Dolphins, the Giants, the Bengals, the Broncos, the Jags, the Washington DC team, the Cardinals, and probably the Raiders are all still playing. Holding judgement on Tennessee/Indy, Buffalo, Detroit and the Jets for a few more weeks as well.

One, I was half joking. Two, I was more talking about wins and losses, and not so much about the quality of either team. The Panthers haven't won a meaningful game in almost a year (November 4th, 2018). And with the way Cam is playing, I pretty much have zero confidence that they're going to do that anytime soon, especially with four of the next five games being on the road. I would have originally predicted the Panthers finishing around 9-7 this year, but at this point it wouldn't shock me if that ends up being more in the 4-12 range.

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will be the main attraction for the half-time show at this season's SuperBowl. As the ancient sages wisely said so long ago about Latinas with incredible asses, "gentlemen, start your boners".

I'm having a hard time caring about the NFL this year. It's not a conscious or purposeful thing, I've just come to realize that we're in week 4, I've only watched half a game, and couldn't tell you who is undefeated or any of that.

So what's the big story so far, outside of Brees and Big Ben both getting hurt, and Cam Newton dressing like a poor man's modern day Dennis Rodman?

I think that's about it really, as there haven't been any big stories or surprises thus far. The Patriots are undefeated, the Dolphins and Jets suck, so you know...business as usual. Though for me personally as a Panthers fan, the big story has been Kyle Allen coming from out of nowhere to go 3-0 after we started off 0-2 under an injured Cam.

Also, after today, Christian McCaffery is god.

So...that Steelers/Browns game happened. And then the fight. We’re all just assuming the NFL is going to either under-react to this with low or no suspensions or over-react and either ban Myles Garrett for life or ban the idiot who hit Mason Rudolph from behind as long as Garrett, right?

Suspending Garrett for the remainder of the season (six games) feels right.

The guy who ran down and blindsided Rudolph afterwards should probably get one or two games as well.

Maybe there are others due a game or two once someone in the league has watched the film more times and from more angles than I care to, but those seem like the most obvious suspension-worthy offenses.
