OO Trailer Frenzy!

Figured we could use an omnibus thread for the new release movie and TV show trailers, just to keep the place a bit less cluttered. Let's start with Aquaman:

Has potential with what appears to be a huge wide-ranging story. At least it appears to be not saturated in DC's usual grim/dark most of their current era of films.

Aquaman looks good (and I love the inclusion of the classic suit), but man, the DC universe stuff is such a shit show right now that I find it hard to get excited about the movie. With Cavill and Affleck reportedly gone and stuff like the new Joker movie that has nothing to do with the main continuity, who knows how or if these movies are going to continue in the long run.

I'm not sure Cavill and Afflack are really big losses.

Afflack did a good job with Batman, but sometimes I think he is bigger than the part and I'm looking at Dead Poets Society and not Batman. Sometimes a lesser name is better.

Cavill looks good as Superman, but I think he is a weak actor and/or doesn't have much to work with.

This ain't losing Robert Downing Jr.

For me, it's just more the glaring fact of recasting the two biggest characters in the DC universe. Like, you have Cavill and Affleck as Superman/Batman over three movies, but then in the next Justice League movie there's suddenly two different actors in the role, while Wonder Woman, Aquaman, etc all stay the same? That's just lame to me.

I feel like DC is in a weird spot, where they really should just hit the rest button and blow everything up, but they can't do that with Wonder Woman being a huge hit and stuff like Aquaman and Shazam already in the can and being released soon.

There's a whole helluva lot that I love about the trailer. Very very geeked out about Captain Marvel.

DC just needs to turn into the anti-Marvel and do experimental comic book movies. They will never rival the MCU's mainstream success so there's no reason to deal with the disadvantages of making a conneceted universe if they won't reap the awards.

I hope the weird Joker movie actually turns into a major success and opens up the chances for more out there stuff. Superman who grew up on Soviet Russia, Futuristic Gotham City with an older Bruce Wayne mentoring a new Batman, Flash fucking up the timeline and living in a world where Bruce Wayne's mom is the Joker.

DC does one thing much better than Marvel - Animated features. All the way back to Batman TAS all the way to the last decade of movies adapted from major storylines, for the most part they've all been pretty good to spectacular.

This sounds stupid, but I get the feeling sometimes that the people who run the animated movies assume their audience is smart, where as the people who run the live action movies assume their audience is dumb. And that they worry a lot more about money then the animated folks do.

I'm not sure why we had to wait for such a generic title, but damn am I pumped.

I don't think there's really any title they could've given it that would've been like "holy shit!"

Except maybe calling in Infinity Gauntlet or Infinity Crusade.

NO THEY WERE NEVER GOING TO CALL THIS SECRET WARS

I'm in on the Deadpool Who Saved Christmas or whatever they are calling this. The Nickleback riff is great.

I can't say I'm a Nickleback fan and I couldn't name a song or album they've done in the last 15 years, but How You Remind Me is a solid radio rock song.

I love that "yeah, but you're Marvel licensed by Fox" line in the Deadpool trailer.

On the subject of the Endgame trailer, I really like how it doesn't reveal much of anything about the overall storyline. Hell, there's not even any action sequences in it. I'm sure we'll get the requisite second trailer in a few months that will show a lot more, but for now I like how they're keeping things close to the vest.

Completely agree. Show me as little as possible. Has there ever been a trailer for a major action movie as somber and without action as that trailer? Brilliant.

Discuss? Oh HELL YES! Sorry, was that not appropriate?

I am really looking forward to the Transformers being shown the way they were in the beginning, and if they want to continue the series and bring in the newer (Transformers '84 movie) characters later that would be awesome as well.

ETA: if they remake the '84 movie, live action, there is a 50% chance I don't cry when Optimus dies...

I'm glad they decided not to try to advertise new GM cars this movie.

I know this is considered a prequel, but I'd love it became a reboot.

It's getting good reviews across the board. Probably because expectations were so damn low.

Despite how much I hate the Bay franchise, I think I want to watch this one.

Is Michael Bay associated with this movie?

I know he didn't direct it, did he write it or do anything?

He's one of the producers. The director is the guy who directed Kubo and The Two Strings.

Yeah, but did he have any input or was it a producer credit like Vince or Steve Mnuchin?

Judging by the fact that the female actress is not wearing short shorts, bent over, with the camera checking her Brazilian, and the number of explosions in a trailer under 20, I am going to guess very little.

I have no idea how to embed YouTube links here, but the trailer for Jordan Peele's new movie Us is fucking great (and creepy). It looks like he's going for more of a straight horror angle than he did with Get Out and I'm pretty damn psyched for this movie.

love the use of Luniz "I Got Five On It" and twisting it in to a scary piece of trailer music.
