Check these out:

The Host - Epic Korean Horror flick
Train to Busan - Magnificent horror flick, the best zombie film in years
Under The Shadow - Beautiful slow burn horror
The Ritual - terrific creature horror flick
Tramps - Low budget romance, really well done
Calibre - Bad situation gets worse, bleak low budget crime movie
Cargo - Nice zombie flick

Stuck in the 1980s.

Anyone check out Paradise PD?

It's basically just Brickleberry with cops instead of park rangers and a dog instead of a bear, but if Brickleberry was entertaining to you then Paradise will probably scratch that itch... Plus as it's on Netflix it looks like they can push the boundaries a bit further.

American Vandal dropped season 2 on Friday, and it is awesome. Who is the Turd Burglar? Won't go in to details, but as they say in the trailer, poop is funny.

The second season of Big Mouth came out this past weekend. More of the same but with a new psyche to torment the kids.

Yep - caught the 2nd season of Big Mouth as well. Thought it was good. "You the man, Steve"

Always enjoy when a show describes the minutea of parallel universes - so enjoyed seeing the "Ministry of Magic" style puberty bureaucracy.

And Shane Lizard.

Yeah, the second season of Big Mouth definitely made me have a few "sheet sneezes" of laughter of my own.... ewwwwww.

Fantastic show; laugh out loud and honestly even a few spots where I teared up a bit remember just what it was like to feel the weight of the world on your shoulders at that age.

I'm going to pile on with how great Big Mouth is. It's hilarious, gross, childish, and intelligent all at the same time.

Anyone else check out The Good Cop?

I mean year it's Tony Danza playing yet another character named Tony (I secretly suspect that Mr. Danza is like Homer in the Cape Fear parody episode... When I step on your foot Mr. Thompson....) but Josh Grobin is a peach, and the plots are kind of a throw back to old Murder She Wrote or Columbo murder of the weeks... and I mean that in a fun way.

I'm only about 3 episodes in and thus far it's been fun.

I've been watching The Haunting of Hill House. 6/10 episodes.
Horror stuff typically isn't my bag, but I'm into this. Going to give it a rest for the night so I've half a chance of getting some sleep tonight.

The flashback/forward - muddled timeline narrative style is slightly irritating, but enjoying the stereotypical supernatural phenomena vs mental health / crazy brain angle they've been working.

Anyone else had a view?

Has anybody else watched the new Sandler stand up special? It's....really good. If you like Sandler's old comedy albums, you should check it out.

I got about 3/4 of the way through and while there was some entertaining stuff in there it just didn't grab me before I gave up on it... The whole intercut performances kind of grated on me a bit.

I couldn't get into it because of the intercutting stuff either. I get that he was going for some artsy, Sandler-based schtick but it was a bit overdone. I saw him in concert back in the late 90's and he had the same kind of bits with musical interludes betwixt the regular stand-up stuff, but him being live there was obviously no intercutting and it was a much more coherent experience.

However, if you didn't see the ending then you missed the best part. It was a musical tribute to Chris Farley and it was really heartfelt. So, if you like a good cry and want to be sad at the end of a comedy show you missed a good'n!

The people posting between the above and my post are mostly wrong.

This was really good. If you have ADD or OCD I can maybe understand the problem you had with it but otherwise get over your damn "issue"

This was really good.

Wouldn't disliking rapid intercuts kinda be the opposite from having ADD thing?

If you have ADD you may be prone to distractions and the intercuts would count as such, thus distracting you from the movie.

You suck at this whole thing.

So probably hard to call this a "hidden" gem when Netflix has been marketing the hell out of it, but just watched POLAR tonight and it was pretty damned good.

I think it's safe to say that John Wick probably changed action movies in a good way where you've got anti-heroes who aren't apt to wait around for the bad guys to pull a gun first and favour bloody headshots... This as per the law of Hollywood has lead to a number of lesser knock offs (Hotel Artemis springs to mind)... Polar fits into that category but is more Wick in style and violence than... uh... not Wick? (There's even what I'm assuming is a nice nod to Wick involving a dog)

Basically Mads Mikkleson is a retiring hitman that worked for an evil corporation as hitmen are want to do; The crux of the story is that the corporation is looking to be profitable for a pending sale or investment... Maybe they were going public or something... Anyway they want to get some pricey hitmen pensions off the books as due to a loophole if an agent dies before retiring their wealth goes back into the company coffers. Yeah... pay no attention to the plot it's really just there to string together some pretty impressive violence that pits the wily Mads (aka the Black Kaiser) against a gang of up and coming assassins that are actually kind of entertaining in their own regard.. Like for example the very hot Ruby O Fee likes to blow dudes as they are being gunned down... there's probably a blown away joke in there somewhere, but really who cares... what I care about is she's probably jumped ahead of Julianna Gill's Zeppelin race in Friday the 13th 2009 for hottest completely irrelevant sex scene in a movie (But still comes in behind Eva Green in the second 300 movie or Sin City 2).

Anyway... If you like violence and boobs then Polar is worth checking out.

Just in closing while I've been writing this I'm watching I am Vengeance on Netflix... it stars Wade Barrett in it... Pretty good so far... B movie vibe, but Barrett is carrying himself well.

ETA: Okay further along in I am Vengeance... very straight to DVD type quality, but Barrett definitely has potential to be a bigger star. I know he's also the UK colour guy on that Ultimate Beastmaster game show, but I could see him playing a heavy in some bigger theatrical run movies until he builds a bigger name for himself... I always liked Barrett; they just gave him a lot of crappy gimmicks over the years that he generally turned into good stuff.

Cheers for that Flash. Nearly watched it recently but got distracted but I'll give it a go - maybe tonight?

There were bits of John Wicks that I absolutely loved and bits that I thought I had mistakenly tuned into a Twitch stream. Is the violence in Polar as video-gamey as Wicks?

I don't think as stylized, but pretty brutal... the movie does have some flair to it though... Like it just said screw it and let's have some fun.

I enjoyed Polar as well. I know the critics raked it over the coals, but that's a buncha bunk. If you go in expecting some kinda five star drama and story, yeah, of course you won't enjoy it. It is what it is.

I watched Velvet Buzzsaw as well. Ehhh, it was OK. Super rote and predictable though, if you ask me.

Is everyone mad here?
Of course they are, and you are too... otherwise, you wouldn't have come here.
