weird because I genuinely like the guy but the character just brings out nothing but apathy in me.
It's probably a moot point now, because there wasn't any Owens/Show followup on this week's episode.
With that said, pretty good Smackdown this week. The Ambrose/Owens main event was really solid and Sasha/Becky was good as well (not to mention that
Charlotte/Sasha/Becky was officially announced). And others may disagree with me, but I think that Lawler going back heel for the first time in
roughly 15 years has really freshened up his commentary.

In the ongoing saga of who Kevin Owens will be defending his IC title against at WrestleMania, last night seemed to point towards
Owens/Zayn/Miz/Neville for the belt (which would support the multi-man IC title match rumors on the gossip sites). While I would prefer Owens/Zayn one
on one, I don't hate the idea of those four in a match together.
Also, nice promo from Jericho, even if the "you people cheered him over me!" excuse for turning heel is kinda cliche at this point.

Agreed. God willing if both guys can remain uninjured leading in to 33 or 34 we can get the actual one-on-one match that they are so deserving of. Is
it too much of a wankery pipedream to hope that it's for the World Title? *sigh*
In regards to Neville, I've been going back and revisiting the stretch of NXT leading up to his title run and had the dawning realization that
I'd much rather have him as the US Champ than Kalisto. Nothing against Kalisto, but WWE is incapable of booking a guy his size to be believable
as a solo champion. I know WWE has a hard-on for the hispanic demo, but Neville would be so much better in that role. he'd also probably wouldnt
be booked to just ragdoll around for his challengers before scoring a fluke win.

I can see them doing the multi-man just to give more guys a WM payday and just to have a change of pace from singles stuff. Plus, you have Extreme
Rules the next month which is a perfect place for Owens/Zayn to have a blow-off match over the belt.

As I've seen mentioned here though, it's just kind of odd that Kalisto/Ryback is getting the one on one treatment for the US title,
whereas Owens and Zayn are more than likely getting tossed into a multi-man match; you would think it would be the other way around.
With that said, I do think that Owens' "king of all assholes" gimmick works really well in a multi-man feud/match, with multiple guys gunning
for him and his IC title. So I don't hate the idea of a fatal fourway (or whatever it ends up being) at WrestleMania, and like you and CM Crunk
mentioned, there are going to be plenty of other opportunities in the future to do Owens/Zayn one on one.

This is what I assume. Zayn has had only a few appearances on TV, and there's only a few weeks until Mania. Rushing the Owens/Zayn "pinnacle"
(I say that because it's at Mania) might waste that moment. Instead, beat around the bush a little bit, have the rivalry continue post-Mania,
have the average audience get to know/like Zayn more, eventually get to one-on-one confrontations, then do their singles Mania match at the next one.

I completely agree that it seems odd how these two matches are being set up, but I suppose I can see the positives in using the schmozzfest to kind of
keep Owens and Zayn "apart". Its heartening at least to see that WWE seems to recognize what they have on their hands here in these two, and
I'm sure this will be a feud that will continue for many years. Ryback and Kalisto in a solo match is strange to say the least. I could see
Ryback having a decent run with the US belt, and honestly at this point he kind of deserves a token title run at the very least. Then he can feud with
Neville. Because that's the thing I'm going to focus on now to ensure I'm a miserable wrestling fan.

Agree with you here, and just to add to it - we always forget that there's a bunch of months between Mania and Summerslam that need interesting
and new things to do...and while you want to build Mania up as much as possible...saving a full out 1 on 1 Zayn-Owens feud for the next 3 months
following can be just as redeeming as it not seeming as important on a card the magnitude of Mania.
That's my sunny way of looking at it. Kinda had my heart set on just that 1 on 1 match at Mania...but...yeah, here's to plenty more years
of Zayn-Owens on the big stage going forward.

I think I'm just going to keep posting in the Smackdown thread until Kevin Owens officially has a WrestleMania match (because it's not
like the PPV is 15 days away or anything). Now it looks like they might be leaning towards Owens/Zayn one on one again, but I'm wondering if
Neville's injury threw a kink into any multi-man plans.
Speaking of Owens, during the main event I was trying to wrap my brain around the fact that I was watching him wrestle AJ Styles on a WWE show. I kind
of want to go back in time a few years and show that match to myself, just so I could watch my own brain explode.

Not just Neville's injury, but also Big Show's injury... that's two of the guys who would have fit in that match, now
unavailable.
I still think a multi-way is the direction I would go, if given the chance to be in charge. No offense to the guys involved, but if you don't
have a super-strong story behind a one-on-one match, it runs the risk of getting lost among the spectacle of WrestleMania.... so rather than doing
Owens/Zayn and Jericho/Styles as singles, I'd really advocate for them forming a voltron, then add in Ziggler and Miz (ladder optional), and
have yourself a 25 minute spectacle that isn't overshadowed by the rest of WM.
The singles matches can follow at Payback.
I thought this week's SD was pretty strong, on the whole. Not only was Owens/Styles a superb main event, but the show opened with an
almost-as-good Ziggler/Miz match that ranks among Miz's best straight forward one-on-one in-ring performances in a while (and obviously, Ziggler
was his usual self, making him the in-ring MVP of the Week). And in between, there were two entertaining value-added non-wrestling segments, as Dean
Ambrose shone as the Hometown Hero, and also, Charlotte/Becky/Sasha all got to play to their individual strengths in a back-and-forth promo.
As far as the latter goes, I also feel obligated to point out that Becky wins at street clothes, and it's not even close....

Yeah, I actually would have been completely fine with Owens/Show for WrestleMania. They had a good dynamic during their pseudo-feud and it would have
given Owens a former world champion to (presumably) go over at WrestleMania.

At this point I would probably prefer Jericho/AJ and Owens/Zayn one on one, but am definitely not against your idea (and it is kind of interesting
that WWE.com doesn't have an official match announced yet for any of them). I'm not quite sure how you cross over Jericho/AJ and
Owens/Zayn into one feud, since both sets of guys have very specific issues with each other, but it's probably not anything that couldn't
be solved in one RAW segment.

Owens and AJ already have kind of a thing going. Owens eliminated him from the Rumble with the "welcome to WWE" comment and they just main
evented SmackDown against each other. That alone makes it a pretty simple process to put the four into a program. Jericho tries to pull one over on AJ
again in a rematch of AJ/Owens, Owens gets in Jericho's face about not needing this old man to fight his battles for him, Jericho swings on
Owens, AJ gets up and fires back at both of them, they get the 2-on-1 upper hand until Zayn comes out to even the odds. AJ and Zayn fight off Jericho
and Owens and do the ring-to-ramp staredown. Kind of forced, but if they're trying to force it...

Worth noting that the AJ/Owens match from this week's episode was pretty damn great. Oh, and Mauro managed to namecheck Hirooki Goto during the
match, which is a name I certainly never thought I'd hear on Smackdown.

That Sheamus/Kofi match was really nice and for anyone who didn't see Smackdown (or has it saved on their DVR), it's worth a watch. This
week's Smackdown overall was solid, but that was definitely the match of the night.
Also, based on the end of the show, it seems like we're going to see some kind of Wyatt interference in the Brock/Ambrose match. It
wouldn't surprise me if we see some mid-match interference, only for Brock and Ambrose to chase them off before resuming in beating the hell out
of each other. And if the WWE is insane enough to put Triple H/Reigns on after Brock/Ambrose (which I'm sure they are)...God help them.

While I'd love to see Dean-O somehow pull out a victory against Bjork Lindbergh, I don't want to see it happen because of Wyatt
interference. Not just because I couldn't see Dean's character thinking that that's an acceptable way to win, but because then
it'll all be about Bray. Sure, Dean slew The Beast, but the narrative focus will end up being on Bray and Brock's quest for revenge. While
that'd be cool, it's what they should have done after the Royal Rumble if that's the story that they wanted to tell.
I'd rather have Dean lose valiantly (which in essence could/would still count as a "win") than score a tainted pin-fall. If you want to
involve The Wyatts, then have them encircle the ring AFTER the match--regardless of the winner--and pick the scraps off of what's left of the
two of them. I know it'd be kind of interesting to see both Dean and Brock seeking vengeance against The Wyatts, and from a storyline
perspective I wouldn't mind seeing the two of them reluctantly have to join forces to take them on at Payback, or Extreme Rules, whichever is
the next PPV after Mania.
Don't get me wrong, I'd also love to see Bray properly showcased as someone not to be fucked with but I think there are ways to get that
across without diminishing Dean's story. Here's hoping "creative" realizes that as well.

Haven't gotten all the way through this week's Smackdown yet, but I was a little surprised that they gave us Roman and AJ's first
face to face encounter on the B show (though part of me thinks it was done on Smackdown so that they could gauge the crowd reaction for Roman/AJ and
then edit/manipulate it as needed in post-production). And I like the added bit of cockiness that Roman has since WrestleMania, with the little pat he
gave AJ at the end of the promo after telling him he won't beat him. I think this could develop into a good feud if the WWE lets it and
hopefully it main-events a PPV instead of being blown off on RAW before we get Reigns/Triple H II.

Agreed. It's nice to see them doing something with BROCKTOON's character that doesn't feel forced. Allowing him to have that cocky
star-athlete attitude should do wonders for him so long as they keep Vince from succotashing his promo scripts. 2 shows in after Wrestlemania and
BROCKTOON is finally coming across as organically as he did back in the Shield days.
The main thing that I wanted to say here is that I want JeriKO to be "a thing" until KO Popup Powerbombs Jericho back into hiatus. Those two were
GOLD together.
Also haven't had a chance to say this since he's started back up but it's good to have ya back PyroFalkon. Haven't had a
chance to start watching Smackdown regularly since it moved back to Thursdays but I feel like I haven't missed a beat on account of your recaps.

Yeah, Roman gets a thumbs up for me so far post-Mania. Hopefully he stays this way and it's not a case of Survivor Series 2015 where he did
something awesome and then it was back to the status quo after that.

Agreed, they made for quite an entertaining team. Looks like Jericho/Ambrose is in the cards now though, so I'm guessing we sadly won't be
seeing anymore of those two teaming up.

So, I caught the Vaudevillains debut on youtube, and it was...
..something? That entrance is really unique, but I don't think the average WWE fan has the patience for it, and I can't imagine a huge pop
occurring for a 1920's silent film. Their finisher is lame - basically Miz's original high knee/neckbreaker combo, but with two people
doing it.
Cool idea, but I'd be shocked if it works.

I've got my fingers crossed several times over for those two. If given a proper chance they could get over with the crowd, but they're
going to need time which unfortunately I don't see Vince or Bucky having the patience for. To their credit they're great workers andd
embrace the ever loving shit out of their gimmick, but once they start getting jobbed out like The Ascension or Tyler Breeze I'm going to die
inside a little.
Simple tweaks need to be made, some nuances need to be added. Just like what they SHOULD have done with The Ascension, who should have been
Metalocalypse castoffs who train in kick ass heavy metal montages, The Vaudevillians need to be portrayed more as hipsters. Ones you want to punch in
the face but they're actually pretty damn good in the ring so it won't be that easy.

To be fair, so long as they don't wind up breaking any of those "unwritten rules in the back" like claiming to be better than legendary tag
teams in promos without their participation or asking for permission to leave a taping early and then leaving early once permission is given, they
should be fine.

For anyone who didn't see Smackdown this week, I highly recommend the AJ/Del Rio match. Really good stuff and I would love to see those two get
20 minutes on a PPV at some point. Jericho/Zayn was a fun main event as well, which involved Ambrose and Owens on commentary and then (of course)
getting involved.
Also, I'm not sure how far Enzo/Big Cass are going to go in the tag team tournament, but damn would I love to see them square off with New Day
on the mic.
