WWE.com Article On Sara Del Rey

Very cool to see this acknowledgement...the women have noticably improved in the past few years. Didn't get nearly enough of a chance to see Sara's indy work.

Very cool of them to pay their respects. She cleans up nicely, too.

Saw her wrestle twice live in Chikara. Both matches were very good.

The first she defeated Icarus, which had a nice bit of romantic tension where Icarus was hitting on Sara and Sara was just hitting (or more kicking) Icarus. A nice combo of competitive match and some comedy mixed in.

The second she defeated El Generico (Sami Zayn) in the main event of a Chikara show. That was just a really good wrestling match where the subtheme was that El Generico took it easy on Sara and she got really pissed off and provoked him into treating her as an equal.

It's a shame that her and Gail Kim never hooked up in the prime of excellent women's wrestling on a national stage.

Her career path seems to follow that of another Indie to big league female wrestler - Nora Greenwald, AKA Molly Holly/Miss Madness/Starla Saxton.

I've never quite got the Gail Kim love. Maybe you can connect me with a match she's had that didn't suck. I haven't seen one.

I did notice that Sara didn't rule out a potential return to the ring, at any rate...

Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend one of the only non-ROH shows she worked in my area. One of the wrestlers from that show told a story on Facebook about how she helped to set up the ring even though she didn't have to...cool statement about her work ethic.

You know when they should let Del Ray show up? If Kharma comes back. I don't think any of us would complain about a Diva's division that had AJ, Del Ray, and Kharma in it.

Pretty much pick something she did vs. Awesome Kong in TNA.

I think she also had a couple good matches against Taryn Terrell.

and even recently her and Madison Rayne have been having solid matches. And I believe her hair vs hair match with Roxxi was pretty solid as well

Sara started in the same training class as The Great Khali. Same facilities, same trainers, same...everything. I know this because is as also there. She was a sweetheart back then. We used to have a lot of fun.

Cheerleader Melissa was also in that class.

Gail and Kong had an amazing, amazing TV main event for impact back in April of 2008. Their feud was really good, and was the best thing Kim was ever a part of.

Del Ray coming out in WWE after Kharma destroys the women's division, cutting a promo along the lines of "I have trained all of these women, and I can't watch as you destroy this division, blah blah" would make for very intriguing storytelling, and could possibly be the best WWE women's feud since Trish/Mickie.

Oh come on, Dom, when is the last time we had a really good 3-way feud in the women's division?

Trish/Jazz/Victoria?

I still remember that WM19 match being really really good. I remember my non-wrestling-fan friend watching that match with me and calling it 10/10 stuff. He was highly impressed.

Just seeing Del Ray in that picture....it's the exact same girl I remember talking to during intermissions at the RCW shows back in Baltimore.

In person, when she doesn't have that make-up shit around her eyes, she's quite beautiful.

I actually personally knew a wrestler named Rich Swann (he was from Baltimore, as well), and I could go and hang out "backstage" at the Du Burns Arena when RCW ran shows in 2011-2012. Honestly, we would all just sit around during downtime before the shows and watch recent PWG/CZW matches or play Super Meat Boy, and talk wrestling. However, Death Ray would always be around and I would always try talking to her about the business. Some of the exercises and stretches that woman does with her leg are fucking RVD-like impressive.

She's also really, really fucking chill, and is like best friends with Cesaro (Claudio was at one of those shows in Feb. 2011, and they were thick as thieves)

So yeah, if you ever see her and you wanna talk turnbuckle, she's really insightful.
