Possible Cool Ending For TLC

Imagine this scenario:

The title unification match goes as scheduled. Cena pulls down both belts, wins the match. Confetti rains down as Orton limps to the back. Cena does his celebration as Cole and JBL sell him as the one and only World Champ.

Suddenly, Cena's music stops.

A familiar figure, his face obscured by a hoodie, walks out to the top of the ramp. He takes out a mike and says, "Cena, you may not know who I am, but a lot of these people do. And before its all over, they will ALL know who I am."

"I'm here to tell you one thing: you are not the undisputed champion. Why? Because you've never beaten me. You've never beaten...AJ STYLES."

He removes the hoodie, takes out the TNA belt and holds it high with a smirk on his face as Cena looks on in disbelief.

Fade out...

I also imagine a talking centaur who wants to be my best friend and my bodyguard. Wanna take a wild guess which scenario is more plausible?

Not that your scenario wouldn't be awesome, it's just that there is no parallel universe in the entire multiverse where WWE would ever acknowledge TNA exists. If we ever see AJ in a WWE ring, it'll be after he spends at least a year or two in NXT, not after something they're trying to market as "the biggest match in WWE history!"

Now my universe mode on 2K14, on the other hand...

Oh, I agree that this has about as much chance of happening as Vince being violated anally by Brodus Clay at next weeks RAW.

But it would be chub-producing cool, and it's always fun to play "what it".

Plus, with the rumors of Styles being a free agent, it would be logical though implausible.

Does the Fantasy Section at OO exist for any reason at all?

To be fair, when was the last time anybody used the fantasy section for non-OOWF or draft stuff?

Of course we don't have to be fair. This is OO, after all.

Always wondered what would happen if they flat out tried to make somebody like AJ a big deal from the get go. You would have to make sure you're visting pure smark towns for his first few weeks to guarantee a reaction and there would be no screwing around like they did with Sheamus. But after atleast two big wins over some combination of Orton,Punk,Bryan and the smarky crowds gving him nice reactions week in and week out, could they trick the general audience into accepting AJ as a legit big player in under two months?

It'd probably work great. I can't recall when any company didn't take some kind of short-term advantage of a "he's the biggest free agent on the market!" storyline. I think that most fans would recognize AJ right off the bat and support him. I doubt that WWE would do the same though, with all their myriad stupid reasons that they'd use to not hot-shot him.

Well, "technically".

But the last time WWE did something like this was when they had that iconic promo of Bobby the Brain Heenan holding the Big Gold Belt talking about the "Real World's Champion" back in 1991. That was without a doubt the biggest mark out moment of my childhood.

Is TNA of 2013 comparable to the NWA/WCW of 1991? Debatable. Is AJ Styles of 2013 comparable to Ric Flair of 1991? Doubtful.

Still, it would be pretty awesome.

Has anyone here actually gotten one of the new consoles - PS4 or XBOX One? I don't know anybody who actually shelled out money on one of them yet.

Speaking of, next time a draft rolls around, new faces would be cool to see.

FWIW, I didn't put this in the fantasy section because it was a just a quick idea of a way WWE could end the PPV rather than a whole years worth of angles and matches.

A more plausible scenario is AJ coming in and having a unification match with Dean Ambrose. That would unify the TNA and US titles, which is about the maximum amount of respect Vince would show that title.

No, I don't think that would happen either.

Such a cynic.

If you polled an average audience of WWE RAW. I would estimate AT LEAST 85% would know who AJ Styles is.

No way would 85% know.

Guys like us know who he is, because we're wrestling nerds who watch a lot of stuff, and talk about it online with each other. Look, I like TNA (although I used to like it a lot more), but let's not fool ourselves here-- Impact ain't 1999 Nitro. AJ Styles showing up on Raw would be nothing like Jericho showing up when he jumped ship.

I guess we will agree to disagree. There's no way either of us will know.

More to the point: it doesn't matter because AJ Styles will never wrestling in a WWE ring.

I find no reason for AJ Styles at this point and I'm just disappointed the one thing TNA has that makes it unique is leaving. Hopefully he becomes a nice selling point around the Indies to prop their ticket sales - that's where his value to the industry is.

Sometimes going to WWE isn't what's best for a wrestler or for wrestling in general. Is AJ Styles good enough to be there? Sure, but why hope for him to lose 2-3 years of what's left of his professional prime wrestling in NXT and then the Kofi Kingstons and Mizes of the world before maybe getting somewhere real?

...and now I just remembered you suggested he'd debut against John Cena.

I made this joke at Slammiversary last year, but it still rings true: When Christian appeared on that show as a surprise, it was the first show since Summerslam 1992 where the IC Champion was the biggest champion on a given wrestling PPV.

Vince McMahon would probably have AJ Styles throw the TNA title in the garbage like Madusa did with the Women's title in WCW...except it would be on the WWE App.

I would argue that they made a pretty big deal out of Goldberg out of the gate.

I would also have to agree with Punker and say maybe 50% of the crowd max would recognize AJ Styles, and I'm probably being too generous. Crowds aren't usually made of smart marks like us. Your average 8 year-old wrestling fan pleading with dad to buy Cena merchandise doesn't give one hot damn about Impact, if he even knows it exists.

You're assuming that 50% of the audience is made up of 8 year old kids. I think that's generous. While I agree that the internet wankers like us that post on wrestling forums make up a small percentage of the audience, WRESTLING FANS make up the vast majority of the audience. While they may not watch TNA or buy TNA merch, they know wrestling and would know AJ Styles.

If AJ Styles showed up I wouldn't know who the fuck he was upon seeing him - in general and especially with whatever makeover he got coming into WWE.

Someone would quickly identify him to me and I'd be "oh that's probably cool."

I am a 25+ year viewer of wrestling, 95% of that being WWF/E. Yes, WWE bias.

I am sure there is a decent sized segment of people like me ...and other segments that fall outside of "8 year old boy" and "internet wanker" that would quickly, when added up, surpass 50%.
