Left/Center/Right orientation of the boards

Possible stupid question alert! I got a new laptop over the weekend and everything is great with it but, for some reason, everything OO Forum-related is centered, which is way different from the left-orientation I'm used to. I'm assuming there's an easy way to change this? I've looked some through the OO control panel as well as my Internet settings and don't see anything jumping out at me as to how to change it but, as many of you know, I am not the most technically-proficient guy in the world. Any assistance is appreciated!

The boards are set up to be centered in terms of page layout at all times, and always have been. Within the layout (the frames or "boxes" you see), text and pictures and everything should still orient to the left.

The only issue I can think of is that maybe your new device has a resolution with width greater than 1024 pixels (which I think is the max allowable table frame here at OO), and now you have a wider screen, and thus, you see the centering (as opposed to having "center" and "left" defaulting to the same thing). I know I'm not explaining that clearly, but it amounts to you formerly seeing "centered" with zero extra pixels on the left side; and now there are extra pixels on the left. [For the record: this is different on main page pages, where I've laid things out to default to the left, and leave extra white space on the right at all times.]

If the text and images WITHIN the frames are fucked, then I don't know what's happening, but I can try and figure it out.

Also, I really thought this thread was going to be about politics. Imagine my co-mingled disappointment/relief.....

I can't provide any help as of yet, but I'm assuming someone who potentially could may benefit from knowing which browser you're using to view the forums, and if this problem occurs on other browsers, also. That way, a decision can be made as to if the issue is with your browser of choice or the forum itself.

I was sure this thread about the lefty bias of the themes and a request for some good old Obama-bashing come the new year.

I am sorry to have disappointed so many with my thread title! Once we get through all this boring technical shit, feel free to start the mudslinging.

I think Rick may be in the ballpark. The new laptop does have a pretty awesome display/resolution and I was wondering if that might have something to do with it. The "boxes" are still centered but all of the text is centered within the box as well, whereas it used to orientate to the left (so that may still be an issue). No big deal; it's just really disorienting after being so used to the way it's looked for the past 10 years (damn, I've been on here a long time). I'll play around with the resolution tonight and see if that does anything.

I'm using good ol' Internet Explorer.

Does your new system have Internet Explorer 10 on it? I recently installed the IE 10 beta and noticed that everything on here moved to center alignment. To fix it, set this site to view in compatibility mode.

Screw you guys, I'm going home.

I am almost positive that it's Internet Explorer 10. I will check that out!

Update here - I right-clicked on the board and went to Encoding and it gives me the option to do "left-to-right document" or "right-to-left document." Unfortunately, that didn't do anything other than make my screen look even more fucked up. How do you set a site to view in compatibility mode? I'm trying to find it in "Help" but I'm finding that it's pretty hard to find "help" in Windows 8. But that's a whole other story.

EDIT - Further update - I just got on another website (411mania.com to be exact) and everything on there is centered as well. Gotta be something with my browser/site compatibility.

To set the site to view in compatibility mode, look in the far right side of the address bar. There is a magnifying glass icon, a reload page icon (a clockwise circle with an arrow, and there should be a third icon which looks like a page torn in half. Click that. It will set the site into compatibility mode.

If you don't see the torn page icon, then you will need access to either the menu bar or the command bar to get to the compatibility settings. The menu bar and command bar are not visible by default. To enable them, right click in the blank area next to the browser tabs. A menu will appear and you can select to turn on the menu bar and/or the command bar.

You will want to click the Tools menu from the menu bar (or click the tools icon from the command bar - it looks like a gear) and choose Compatibility View from the menu.

Hope this helps.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner. Torn page icon did the trick. And blazeofglory has automatically earned my vote for Newcomer Of The Year. Even though it looks like he originally registered in 2008.

Thanks Matte, glad I could help. Windows 8 is a pain in the ass by the way. Good luck with that! Hope you aren't too attached to the Start button/menu.

And yeah, despite my low post count I've been here a really long time, actually. I've been reading/following The Rick and his wrestling related endeavors since the News From Dayton days. Didn't register here until a few years ago, but had been reading the boards as a guest for a long time prior.

I second the vote for Chrome. I use a Chromebook and this is the smoothest browsing experience I've ever had.
