My first vague baseball memories are my parents letting (making) me stay up to watch the 1981 World Series even though I didn't comprehend what was going on, so I only know the Big Red Machine anectdotally and via documentaries. That's not to say they aren't awesome (because they are), but Barry Larkin's 1995 Reds were the first Reds I followed when the Reds were my most favorite team.

That was my first year out of the house, and I even stayed on campus during the summer, and instead of a steady diet of dinner, Jeopardy, sitcoms, and parents who liked the Yankees, I was finally able to sell out completely to a new evening routine of dinner, sitting on the porch, drinking beer, listening to Reds games, and hanging out with friends who supported this lifestyle (especially the ones who had fake IDs so we could have the beer). That 1995 team and Barry Larkin hold a special place in my heart. Also, until last weekend, they were the last Reds team to win a playoff game. Sadly, after tonight, they are still the last Reds team to win a HOME playoff game. And the last Reds team to win a playoff series.

That better change tomorrow, dammit.

Plus, if 17 years ago isn't "retro," I don't know what is. Granted, saying that makes me feel damned old, but it's the sad truth...

I couldn't agree with that sentiment more.

Luckily, 24 hours to purge the bile from my system, and a Game 5 Yankees win, means I now have a baseball back-up plan.

Still, it's only about 37% as much fun as if it had been the Reds moving on....

In weak argument, but for headllines its not the Tigers pitchers its the Yankees hitters, they weren't hitting against Baltimore either.

Yes, but the Tigers starters were shutting down the A's the last couple of games as well. I think it's both.

No. No, you may not.

My plan was to run with this till it was time for Election Based Themes. But the way my luck is running, I'd do that, then within 24 hours, Obama would suddenly blurt out that the Tea Baggers were right all along and he IS a Secret Muslim, and somehow we end up with President Romney.

So I dunno what will be next... I guess if I really had faith in my jinxtastic powers, I'd switch to St. Louis Cardinals themes. But even if they'd work, I couldn't look at myself in the mirror if I did something so grotesque and heinous.

All-Ravenloft board themes? I brought my pencil!

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know, that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but I'm not high. You know what I mean?

I was thinking it might be time to do a Ziggler theme, to celebrate his first real main event type feud. It would have been a decent bridge to a holiday theme.

But then I pretty much ran out of material after three subforums: Current ("Vickie Guerrero's Boy Toy"), Retro ("Chavo Guerrero's Caddie"), and Divas (something to do with Amy Schumer's lack of fuckdurance).

If anyone wants to help flesh that out (or has another idea that writes itself), I'm game.

One OO Gold Star to DevilSoprano. I like the idea of ringing in December 2012 with Apocalyptic board themes.

DevilSoprano getting an OO Gold Star is, in and of itself, a surefire sign that Armageddon is near.

With no ill will or sarcasm meant at all, I think this may be the funniest thing you have ever posted. It literally made me break out into laughter when I read it. The simplicity of it makes it so good.

I'm open to a new one for "Fantasy," as I am lazy and don't feel like thinking any more about this. But I'm pretty proud of the rest.
