Kerwin White

Where does everyone think this character is headed? Will it be this year's Eugene, or this year's "gangsta" D'Lo Brown?

And I strongly urge fans to check out his new video:

Kinda sounds like their telegraphing Kerwin as a face-in-disguise sorta thing. The comment about Chavo's fans being too poor to buy a computer struck me as somewhat out of place. I wonder if he'll ride this Kerwin thing for a while until he's finally cheered as a face just to do a massive 'coming out of the closet' (in a non-gay sense) angle where he rips on white america for being so shallow and racist and instantly you end up with the mexican Bret Hart (circa 1997). Who is a heel to white america, but a face to latin america.

Or he could just end up as the dolt Kerwin White until the next round of cuts.

Canadian Chris...you bring up a good point. Kerwin White could turn Chavo into a major player...in 1997.

But WWF creative in 1997 and WWE caretive in 2005 are two very different things...

First off, thanks madiq for that link - I as of yet hadn't seen anything of Chavo's new persona on WWE TV. Like Canadian Chris though, I'm going to put some hope into this thing. White is too blatant in his putdowns on middle america for this to actually be a full-fledged heel turn on his Hispanic heritage. This really does almost feel like a Bret Hart kind of turn on the United States - one that very well could be a make or break angle for Chavo.

Or... it could degenerate into having another Hispanic star confront Chavo about his new attitude and develop a feud over it. That would suck, because this persona has a lot more potential than that.

I'm going to wait and see on this one. I suppose we'll have a clearer outlook on this one as it progresses.

I quite liked it in a dorky, silly kind of way ("Oh hey there! I'm just sitting here, reading my WALL STREET JOURNAL" ). They've still bastardised Chavo, but at least they appear to have done it humourously.

Based on that promo, I reckon he'll be some kind of bad-comedy poser type heel for now. Might be wildly wrong though, tis only the one promo.

I'm just hoping he changes his theme music to a white version of his old music, complete with "OOOOOOOH KERWIN" at the beginning.

Probably Heat.

If they let Chavo run with this he could make something out of the character. I wonder how far he'd have to go to piss off the kind of wonderbread type it's based on, making him a white collar criminal who knows he won't get punished because he's white, playing up the racisim more or something like that might do it.

Damn, beat me to it.

Seriously, the character's going nowhere if Chavo/Kerwin gets no time on Raw... which is exactly what happened this week.

I favor the idea of Kerwin White just playing the part of middle american white man just to better his career. To aventually turn and Bring Chavo back when he's at a point where he feels he achived. Like say the Inter. title.

Chavo's a big enough goofball, imo, to pull off this gimmick. To be honest, now that he's shaved clean, I would just think he's a whiteboy with a really good tan.

I'll be hitting the KY house shows this weekend, Kerwin will be fighting Tajiri. I'll post a report when I get back.

he made the gimmick with "Pepe" the toy horse work.

If they give him the time, and the right story, he could make "Kerwin" work, but I don't see that happening, not on RAW.

He should have stayed on SD, "Kerwin" may have worked better there.

Kerwin vs. Tajiri?

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

Sorry.

But I like Kerwin White a lot. I agree he would have worked better on Smackdown, which is--very crudely--the Hispanic show. Then again, it might have caused some backlash. No it wouldn't have. It would have been fun. Gahh.

PUT HIM ON TV!!!

Some of you have some very rose-colored glasses. Kerwin will end up in the evergrowing pile of WWE wrestlecrap.

Okay, sorry to not post.....

Kerwin White came to the ring to Sinatra music (and strollin along to it) giving the "royal wave" to the crowd. and of course, he came out in the yellow shirt, green sweater around his neck, dress slacks, and weird black and gold shoes.

He has deliberately slowed down his style and taken out most of his personal arsenal. Punchy-kicky with a hold here and there. actually took a moment during the match to take off his golf shirt and meticulously fold it while Tajiri recovered from a "Flurry" of offense. No finisher to speak of - finished both matches with a roll-up using the ropes.

But Kerwin's actions and gestures between moves, he's trying for a little too happy-go-lucky and easily over the top with his "whiteness".

The "Kerwin WhiteToast" sign I brought was well-received in Louisville.
