While we wait, let's take a trip down memory lane and relive some of the AWESOMENESS of Borderlands prior.

Like this:

I'm a little teapot, bloody and cut
Here is my handle, here is my butt

williamssl - 10-10-2014 at 03:52 PM

GUNZERKER CLAPTRAP SEZ....

punkerhardcore - 10-10-2014 at 10:22 PM

Oh man... I wanna be able to put a cowboy hat on my ClapTrap.

williamssl - 10-13-2014 at 03:10 PM

Borderlands - the pre-sequel comes out tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow
is really soon
Just thinkin' about tomorrow
Shooting up badguys and collecting loot on Pandora's moon

When I'm stuck in the day that's grey and lonely
I just stick up my chin and grin and say oh

This game will come out tomorrow
So you got to hang on
till' tomorrow, come what may!
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow
The game better be in my fucking mailbox when I get home from work or I'm going to go postal on Amazon and make them pay!

williamssl - 10-14-2014 at 02:54 PM

williamssl - 10-14-2014 at 11:12 PM

Bumping this because stupidheads keep posting about games other than Borderlands and they really shouldn't be.

williamssl - 10-15-2014 at 04:57 AM

Review after night one of co-op with my son:

MOTHERFUCKINGAWESOMEILOVEBORDERLANDSEVER!

Kiddo is Wilhelm
I am Nisha

He won the coin toss to pick a character first. We both had Wilhelm as 1 and Nisha as 2.

I love this game.

Because Borderlands!

dRob78 - 10-15-2014 at 05:12 PM

I spent my first 4 or so hours playing all of the characters to decide which one i'll start with. I'm probably going to go with Wilhelm, since his talent trees seem the most fun, but the dark horse is... Claptrap. i thought his action skill would kind of suck, since it's random. but holy shit, every use is a new form of hilarious. Also, when you select him as a character, the game goes through 4 different "Are you sure?" confirmation boxes. it's funny. And he narrates what he's doing, with "little kid" gun sounds and everything.

punkerhardcore - 10-15-2014 at 05:24 PM

I was looking at the skill trees for the different characters yesterday, and was thinking Athena-- since I played as the Siren in the first two Borderlands-- but man, the Claptrap is very tempting, just from a purely fun perspective. Is he severely underpowered or anything, though?

dRob78 - 10-15-2014 at 05:36 PM

no, but his talent trees seem like they'd be more effective in a group. also, i thought Athena was the worst character out of my limited playtime with her. the shield action skill is... lame. And don't discount the banter between your character (yes, they talk this time around) and Jack. He hits on Nisha, he's all bros with Wilhelm, he's "FML" with Claptrap, and he's sort of in awe of Athena.

williamssl - 10-15-2014 at 09:28 PM

I get kinda creeped when Jack hits on me.

Claptrap seemed interesting but novelty...that would wear off. I could see him being interesting out the gate and not so bad earlier in the game when things mattered least..but when shit started getting super real....not so much.

dRob78 - 10-16-2014 at 02:19 AM

i've used his special 7 or 8 times in dire combat straits. i've either gotten Zer0's decoy/invisibility, Sal's gunzerker (which is my favorite so far, since he auto shoots and doesn't use any of your actual ammo), Krieg's supermutant rampage, and phaselock. The further up his talent trees you go, it unlocks different possibilities (pirate ship Trap!) i have yet to get a dud of a special, not sure if there are any that come up randomly.

And he doesn't need his Oz container to breathe, just for the double jump and slams.

williamssl - 10-16-2014 at 03:26 PM

I'll prob do Claptrap then on a new playthrough at some point down the line.

punkerhardcore - 10-18-2014 at 10:37 PM

Do you actually have to find recipes for the Grinder, or can you just throw in three random objects? I've been trying all kinds of different combinations of pistols, SMG, shields, grenade mods, etc... and it never lets me make anything.

williamssl - 10-23-2014 at 08:20 PM

The Grinder is complicated....
http://segmentnext.com/2014/10/17/borderlands-the-pre-sequel-grinder-recipes-guide/

Also, this is kinda cool. Didn't do it (did the normal "call him a dick"). But still...kinda cool.

nOOb - 1-25-2015 at 09:55 PM

Hi. Are you like me and upgraded both your last gen consoles to the next-gen, but felt like you may have missed out on Borderlands. Well, have no fear, because the Borderlands Handsome Collection is here! The next-gen remastering comes with Borderlands 2, Borderlands the Pre-Sequel, all the DLC for both games (including anything coming for the pre-sequel), and touched up next-gen graphics.

Looking for a little more "oomph"? Good news: there's also the Claptrap-in-a-Box Limited Edition, which includes the typical nerd stuff of lithographs and steel cases, but, for the meat of the collection, a remote controllable Claptrap, complete with smart-phone compatibility, a video camera for an eye, and lots of catchphrases. It's sure to be the first of many of our new robotic overlords.

I'm also very tempted at buying the limited edition. I usually don't splurge on them, in fact cutting myself off at $20 more than the price of the game so long as the extras are in-game exclusives, but that remote control Claptrap is tempting...

williamssl - 1-25-2015 at 10:07 PM

Let me know how it is - I have 360. Saw no reason to upgrade to either PS4 or One - no games or features that were "OMFG MUST HAVE".

This might push me over the edge

Better upgrade before Borderlands 3 comes out...

The next Borderlands game will not be coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, 2K has confirmed. Speaking during parent company Take-Two's financial call last night, 2K president Karl Slatoff said that the next Borderlands game will be "built specifically for next-gen consoles.Ē

williamssl - 4-26-2016 at 07:55 PM

From the "best gaming news I've seen in a long time" file:

A new Borderlands is in the works.

The Pre-Sequel was ok. I don't know if my "not enjoying it as much as 1 and 2" was a function of the game itself, or the novelty having worn off some. In any event, that's the more consistent-than-not sentiment on it and I fully anticipate that to be addressed and then some when this thing sees the light of day.

I'm looking forward to next month's release of Battleborn to tide me over for a bit.

williamssl - 3-30-2019 at 12:48 AM

Dropped earlier this week..

..and then revealed at PAX East yesterday.

CAN'T. FUCKING. COME. SOON. ENOUGH.

The game, that is.

I did already. Lots of times. In my pants. On my keyboard. Everywhere.

punkerhardcore - 3-30-2019 at 02:37 AM

Oh fuck yes. Day one purchase, without a doubt.

williamssl - 4-3-2019 at 03:53 PM

Launch date Sept 13.

Did my pre-order earlier this morning

punkerhardcore - 4-3-2019 at 06:19 PM

Where did you put the preorder in at? Retail, or just through Xbox Live?

I need to check Amazon in a bit, because for a while they were doing a thing where Prime members would routinely get 20% off all game preorders. It's been so long since I got something on launch day, that I don't know if they still do this.

williamssl - 4-3-2019 at 08:02 PM

I did Amazon, am Prime, and got no special discount. And I donít fucking care because BORDERLANDS!!!!

punkerhardcore - 4-3-2019 at 10:31 PM

I can't even find it on Amazon. Either I'm totally blind and/or don't know how to search for it... OR you're so horny for it that you had some sort of cartoonish, starry-eyed hallucination that made you see something that wasn't there.

williamssl - 4-3-2019 at 11:54 PM

It doesn't have to be an "OR". It could be an "AND"

I initiated the order from the Borderlands site

When I selected Amazon, it redirected me there.

I got Super Deluxe edition.

williamssl - 6-10-2019 at 05:28 PM

I know this thread is basically me talking to myself and punker, but hey...works for me.

Gearbox just did something pretty cool as a lead-in to September's release of Borderlands 3 -
they released new and free DLC content for anyone who owns Borderlands 2 or the Handsome Jack Collection (which includes BL2) in it as a bridge between BL2 and BL3.

It wraps up some stories from 2 and set up 3.

Did I mention it is free?

Also because many people last played BL2 on prior console versions and this is only released on latest, it comes with an option to instantly 'up-level' a new character to Level 30 so that you're playing at or about where you would have been near the end of first playthrough of BL2. That way you don't have to restart from scratch and build up a character - you can go into the DLC as a fully functioning character.

Also, free.

punkerhardcore - 6-11-2019 at 03:56 AM

Free Borderlands content? Fuck yeah!

I didn't know about this other than the rumor I read the other day that there would be some kind of bridge DLC linking 2&3. I was curious how it would work, since I (like you and like most, I'm sure) played it on the 360 or PS3. But the fact that it's free and you can auto level like that is fantastic.

dRob78 - 6-12-2019 at 02:32 AM

The character boost puts you at level 30, and every story mode mission completed up until killing Jack. The gear.... sucks. Maybe my Borderlands skills are rusty, but the DLC is kind of hard. So, if you boost a character, do the Jack mission, get some lootz from the Destroyer, then do the DLC.

ETA: by "story mode mission," I mean "main story mission." All the sidequests are [Undiscovered] in the mission log.

williamssl - 6-12-2019 at 04:51 AM

Thanks.

I know Iím rusty. Doing split screen coop with my kiddo in a couple days.

He is at E3 and got to play BL3 today. Loved it. But of course.

williamssl - 6-15-2019 at 06:28 PM

Literally sat on my ass all day yesterday with the kiddo in town and knocked the full DLC out in about 8 hours via split-screen coop. I didn't have Handsome Jack collection on XB1 but it was on sale for all of $9 as part of MSFT's E3 sale so super low cost of entry to play between that and free DLC.

We leveled up to 30 and went straight into the DLC, skipping finishing off the the first playthrough. Our guns were plenty fine to start - it took a while before any loot we got was worth anything but our guns were good.

Overall a lot of fun and good to get back into the BL rhythm before September.

If you're even a casual fan, I'd recommend doing this. DLC is free through early July and not sure how long MSFT is running their sale.

williamssl - 9-12-2019 at 02:30 AM

God bless Gearbox. BL3 is already available for download and install if you purchased digitally. Save you the hassle of waiting for and dealing with that so you can be good to go immediately upon launch = their servers going online.

And they go online tomorrow, a day early. I think 4pm pacific for PC and 9pm pacific for consoles.

Fuck all tomorrow night. All of it.

punkerhardcore - 9-12-2019 at 03:14 AM

Yeah I have it downloading as we speak. It will indeed be ready to go for us tomorrow night at 9:00 p.m.

With the servers in Gears 5 taking a fat shit since launch, it'll be fine to chill on that one while it gets worked out, and start fucking things up on Pandora.

[Edited on 9-12-2019 by punkerhardcore]

punkerhardcore - 9-13-2019 at 04:34 PM

I torn between playing as the Siren or the Beastmaster. I'd played as the Siren the previous two games and really liked the gameplay style, but went with the Beastmaster this time, just for something different. Plus after reading about the characters a bit, he sounded pretty cool.

I saw you chose him as well. Who did you pick as the companion? I went with the skag... the whole "spits acid on the enemies while clawing the shit out of them" is working out well so far.

williamssl - 9-13-2019 at 09:23 PM

I did Spiderant. I've been Berzerker / Gunzerker in past playthroughs, and have greatly benefited from the healing ability that game with his skill tree. Spiderant had that.

I think I regret not picking the skag. My son did same as you and is loving it. Spiderant is ok.

nOOb - 10-1-2019 at 06:08 PM

I started playing Sunday after beating AC Odyssey, tried to get into it with Moze, but something about the soldier-y dialogue just seemed off versus everything else in the world. So I restarted and now I'm Zane. Maybe it's because my "I Always Have Reward Zone Certificates" for Best Buy and the 20% off I still get until November lead to me getting the Super Deluxe Edition and I only found out where to get the extra content from late into my Moze experiment, but Zane is a much easier play than Moze seemed to be. And I like the clone skill since it actually does damage when someone sees it, and if I'm far enough away I can swap places with it.

Everyone else can be a Beastmaster.

nOOb - 10-24-2019 at 11:17 PM

So back to not broken, great games, Bloody Harvest started today and itís a pretty solid time all around. The actual areaís only about 15-20 minutes but it level scales and Iíve averaged a legendary per run (not to mention the quest looks to be repeatable). Plus free is always good.

williamssl - 10-25-2019 at 05:37 AM

Yep. Started today. Will finish this weekend. Fun. Free. No glitches. Yay.

CamstunPWG187 - 10-25-2019 at 02:24 PM

Borderlands 3 is preeeetty fun, yes.
