If it weren't August, I'd think this was an April Fool's gag--

quote:
Deadline.com has announced a partnership between Warner Bros. Home Video and WWE Studios to co-produce a Scooby-Doo animated feature that will find Scooby and the gang solving a mystery at WrestleMania.

WWE Superstars Triple H, John Cena, Kane, The Miz, Brodus Clay, Santino Marella, Sin Cara, AJ Lee and chief Vince McMahon are slated to appear in animated format and provide voiceovers for the film.

WWE.com summarizes the film's plot: "When Shaggy and Scooby win tickets to WrestleMania, the entire gang travels in the Mystery Machine to WWE City to attend the epic event. However, when a mysterious ghostly bear appears and threatens to ruin the show, Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred work with WWE Superstars to solve the case."

Warner Bros Home Entertainment will distribute the film via Blu-ray, DVD, VOD and digital download while WWE will use its considerable resources to promote the title, said WWE Studios President Michael Luisi.

Who do you think the ghostly bear will be unveiled to be? My guess is Kane.

CM PUNK GETS DISRESPECTED AGAIN

Dominator - 8-15-2012 at 05:42 PM

Big Show's got a freakin' bear on his t-shirt... how hard is this? Although I think Punk would really hit the "meddling kids" line perfectly.

theflammablemanimal - 8-15-2012 at 05:59 PM

Too bad RVD can't do a guest spot as Shaggy's best friend.

williamssl - 8-15-2012 at 06:30 PM

Hornswaggle vs. Scrappy fight it out to determine most annoying thing ever*

* not counting any Seth MacFarlane creations or Seth himself. I guess this is then the "runner up to most annoying behind all things Seth." And Twitter. And Tout. And Matte for ignoring my posts and U2U's about Chyna entering the showdown. OK this isn't most annoying thing ever but definitely top 10?

Animated? No Sarah Michelle? What's the point then?

It's gotta be VInce. Only Vince can do justice to "those meddling kids".

gobbledygooker - 8-15-2012 at 07:32 PM

This reminds me of "Rock n' Wrestling." Which is a good thing.

Maybe they'll solve the mystery of who was behind GTV.

Maybe it was a g-g-g-g-g-ghost! Zoinks! Lets get outta here Scoob!

TonyTH - 8-16-2012 at 12:24 AM

Has anyone seen the new season of Scooby Doo? It's a reboot and it's been REALLY good, with a continuing story arc and mocking the old character tropes and such. Waiting for season 2. I've never liked Scooby that much until last year. Also it's funny that it has evolved while wrestling kind of refuses too in a lot of ways.

So sign me up. WEIRD that this came to be and all, but I'm excited.

theflammablemanimal - 8-16-2012 at 01:26 AM

Wrestlemania is happening at "WWE city?"

mark markham - 8-16-2012 at 03:43 AM

Several repercussions will happen due to this movie:

*WWE has its first truly successful film.

*Scooby-Doo becomes (arguably) the first cartoon character in the WWE Halll of Fame.

*Warner Bros is accused by the internet fans of only pushing old stars and refusing to create new ones. The fans turn against Scooby himself as some still hold a grudge against him for failing to put over 'I.M. Weasel'

*TNA immediately makes plans for their own cartoon mash-up with the popular 'My Little Pony:Friendship is Magic' with 'Bully' Ray being repackaged as 'Bronie' Ray and RVD forming a stable with Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy whom only himself and Jeff Hardy can see.

I certainly hope that ghost bear doesn't look too much like, say, a wolverine or something...

Jumbie - 8-16-2012 at 12:37 PM

Scooby WOULD feud with CM Punk. Or rather, Punk would try to harsh Scooby's buzz by running him down for being potheads.

I wonder what Scooby's finishing move is?

Wrestling bears is a legit thing.
The first time I went to a live wrestling event I watched One Man Gang (as Crusher Brunfield) wrestle a bear. The bear wanted to take a nap. Gang had to simultaneously look terrified and provoke the bear into taking swipes at him.

It looked nothing like this:

While the first two point could be legit I think the last 2 points are just mindblowingly insane that I would prefer to see them happen first.

Not I.R.Weasel though. That guy sucks.

From the website linked...

(hey, look – Triple H with the WWE title…)

we'll probably all be checking this movie out, simply because we'll all be fappin' to animated AJ Lee.....

Anthony - 12-13-2013 at 03:08 AM

Bahahaha. Even in cartoon land, HHH buries everyone else. I can only hope HHH realizes Shaggy is getting too over with the crowd so he pedigree's him.

Also, why is AJ of all people standing next to HHH?

John Cena: the Scrappy-Doo of the WWE.

Anthony - 12-13-2013 at 06:49 PM

We have visual confirmation.

I also really hope there's a deleted scene where Orton takes a dump in Daphne's bag.

I just have to point it out, but WWE really missed the boat during the "Way Too TV-PG" era by not having a John Cena and Friends cartoon show.

Bearon Von Raschke

mark markham - 12-14-2013 at 05:07 AM

It's not too late for "John Cena and Friends". They just had comic books come out--or else they do come out on Tuesday--, so this Scooby-Doo episode could very easily become the pilot for an ongoing cartoon. I haven't heard or read any rumors or anything like that, but if this does well, you just know McMahon is looking for more ways to make money and indoctrinate younger viewers. I'd assume the guys would be too busy to record voices for a season's worth of episodes, so they'd probably use sound-alike voice actors like they did for the Rock n' Wrestling show in the 80s. Overall, it wouldn't be a bad idea, and this is an easy way to see if there is a potential market for something like this with virtually no risk. On the other hand, Scooby remains a big cartoon star. These direct to DVD movies have been coming out since the mid-nineties--I know because I have a few--, so it might be a little hard to determine who, if anyone, is actually getting the rub.

Dominator - 12-15-2013 at 04:42 PM
