Several reasons, first it is hard to rotate players so your stars will get rundown quickly, end of the half, they have a lot of time to recover. Second, the offense for the two minute drill has a much smaller playbook, if you ran that in the first quarter, the defenses will be able to adjust. Thirdly, running it early could result in your defense not having enough time to recover if they are going back on the field after a minute because it doesn't work, whereas if the hurry up fails, usually the defense is going back out there to watch the other team kneel.

Yeah, I really don't get it. I can't count how many games I've watched over the years where it's been a close or low-scoring game the entire time and then a team gets the ball with, say, 1:17 left on the clock and they drive down the field at will at and score a touchdown.

And if the answer is because defenses play looser so that they don't give up a big play, it still doesn't make any sense, because it's basically like they're saying "sure, we'll let you drive all the way down the field 10-20 yards at a time with ease so that we don't give up that big 50-yard pass!"

No shit. if you can do that all quick and stuff...what the fuck were you doing the rest of the game?

There's a split. There are those who stopped rooting for the team completely (choosing a new team to root for) and those who are still rooting for them. I run a Facebook group of Chargers fans in Seattle, and two of the admins left because they won't root for the Chargers anymore. One of the admins made a "San Diego Sports Fans of Seattle" group that include the Padres, Aztecs, and Sockers. There's still some folks who still stuck around and still go to the gatherings and watch the games. Some people chose a different team to root for (a lot decided to go with the Seahawks. One went with the Chiefs). I'm still an admin, but I haven't gone to a game yet. I haven't dropped the Chargers at this point, but my enthusiasm is low.

I summed it up this way recently - To me, the Chargers are like that sibling or cousin who just royally pissed you off because they did something really stupid or shitty. You haven't disowned them, but man, you're pissed off and disappointed in them, but you still love them. That's how the Chargers are to me right now.

As far as my friends living in San Diego - most of them have stopped rooting for the team.

Fuck Dean Spanos.

Just curious, what's the feeling amongst the Chargers faithful right now? Is the team dead to everyone now that they're in LA or are there those who still support them?

And they never should have left San Diego in the first place, so I'm glad to see this blow up in Spanos' face thus far.

Each week someone flies over StubHub with a banner:

I'm using every ounce of restraint in my body to not...make...a...Cowboys joke. So...damn...hard.

Okay, I'm good. And it was a big win for my Panthers today, though in classic Cardiac Cats fashion, they couldn't do it in a way that didn't take approximately 5.7 years off of my life.

Also, with 1/4 of the season in the books, who would have thought that the Patriots and Jets would have the same record? Kind of mind-boggling.

Yeah, but see, it's a lot funnier and satisfying for all of us when it happens to the Cowboys.

It's going to be a long, deplorable, and fucked up season. In other words it'll be like every other season that came before it. So let's celebrate and get drunk to some mascots destroying kids during the half-time game!

I have zero interest in or respect for the NFL and it's product. But the way this thing blew up over the last couple of days with Trump versus the kneeling protests has got to be the most hilarious "FUCK YOU!" he's had aimed back at him since the inauguration. It's gonna be a wild Sunday today.

Wow, who put the happy pills in Denver's offense today? I was not expecting anything like that donkey punch they just gave the Cowboys. And Von Miller is reeeaally good. I'm officially excited.

HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!

And my Panthers squeaked out a bowling shoe-ugly win over the Bills today 9-6, but hey, a win's a win. Greg Olsen breaking his foot isn't going to help our already shaky-looking offense though.

Guess we're off to a slow start this year with the NFL thread, huh? Let's see if we can get up to ten posts by Sunday!

Though I will take this moment to laugh at the Bengals. Zero touchdowns (and nine points) through two games, at home no less, is pretty dismal. No wonder they fired their offensive coordinator today.
