I miss the old recaps.

This doesn't deserve it's own thread so I'll just ask here. Does anybody know of a way to find the old columns or are they lost
forever?
Got the random urge to read up the what if Raven played Kane scenario.

The Rick has alluded to ongoing health problems and personal issues which he has implied has sapped him of his ambition to keep the site going beyond
the Forums.
Maybe one day he'll elaborate. Or maybe it's none of our business.

He rebooted it using DOS. That's why it hasn't been updated in ages.

Anybody know what happened with the planned reboot of the site?

I miss you, OORick.
And I'll reiterate that if recapping and daily updates are a lot of work (and they are), that I'd be perfectly satisfied with a weekly
Online Onslaught column that just analyzes the news, along with maybe recaps for PPVs and shorter, more timely columns for big stories.

Re: the whitespace.
If you're going "mobile friendly" as well, maybe incorporate the "night/day" modes that other websites do. White text on black background for
the "night", and regular-as-is for the "day".
Some of us prefer "night mode" in the daytime too.

Keep it coming with observations (especially cross-platform ones) and opinions.
FWIW, my original idea was to lose the gold/yellow entirely, but when I mocked up red-and-silver and blue-and-silver (the blue-and-silver was actually
on display for most of the past week), I sort of had a conflict of conscience, because I thought one or the other would be too deeply tied to either
(a) RAW vs. SD or (b) Red State vs. Blue State. OO does not take sides! Well, we do, but not that easily and obviously!
Also, while blue has been my favorite color since childhood, I have WAY more red stuff in my possession because of sports loyalties (Reds, Flyers), so
that's always a tough choice for me.
Ultimately, going with gold was the right call, I think. It's been a constant main or accent color for everything I've done since 1998
(basically, everything EXCEPT the orignal News From Dayton), and today, it's associated with NXT, so if we're doing a reboot or a new deal,
it fits that way, too.
I like the white. In a lot of ways, fivethirtyeight was an inspiration, just omitting the extraneous third column (and also, I can't justify
there EVER being six "b-stories" worth a graphic in pro wrestling, so I switched it from a 2x3 layout under the main story to a 1x4), because
it's so simple and clean and consistent, whether I check it on PC or my phone (as opposed to a lot of sites that look one way on PC, but then
have an entire other design on mobile).
And trust me, any issues you have with graphics and scaling: that's me trying to figure out the tradeoffs between PC and mobile display. If I
was able to implement my CMS as I'd hoped, it'd be OK, cuz it's all built in and WYSIWYG. But on Saturday, I found out my CMS of choice
wasn't compatible with my server, and went into panic mode, and tried to manually code all the HTML for a page that is, in the parlance,
"responsive" to the screen size and device. This is all new to me, so a LOT of things got lost in the min-width this, or max-height that, not to
mention that I lost track of which things were pixels and which were percents.
That's why some of those images (on PC) are so distorted and pixelated (they are small files, jpgs at 225px, but blown up much bigger for some
reason), but the main logo graphic is constrained to 50% screen width on mobile (which makes it unreadable).
Work with me in the short term, and we'll get to a happy place eventually....

Agree with Matte. Otherwise, there's a lot of white goin' on and that's not too much in fashion right now. And it's a bit
more aggressive on the eyes vs. the old Garnet and Gold motif on the main page. But being a Gayturd I tend to notice those things. Perhaps an Orange
and Blue motif is in order? X 2.
Otherwise, I like the info header dumps/summations going horizontal and still being grouped with accompanying important pics. You ever make those gifs
and I will murder persons of your choice at your request.
Nicely done, Cap'n.

My only suggestion would be to save the main page logo (and any other images) as a png or higher-quality jpeg to avoid the artifact look it's got
right now. Otherwise, looks great.

I've been exploring the main page using Safari on my MacBook Pro and it looks great. However, at os this writing, the Recap, News, and Feature
links on the top of the page are not working.
I've been lurking here since the old "News From Dayton", through Wrestlemaniacs to the current OO. The new page is the most-eye-appealing
I've seen. Can't wait for the upgrade to be fully functional.

Touch of "oh crap" at first blush here as well.
Too many sites go into "reboot" mode excessively; tweaking with things and changing CMS' on a whim.
In this case. It's several years overdue.
Looking forward to the new OO.

Nope, I panicked a bit, too. But panic was quickly replaced by excitement.
Like Paddlefoot, I too have really tapered off on reading the recaps in the past 10 years. Because really, recapping every moment of RAW every week
seems really unnecessary nowadays.
What I always loved about OO was the news, analysis, commentary, sanded vaginas, and insane Molly Holly fantasy-booking... and a recap of a three-hour
show is a poor format for that. I'd have much preferred if Rick had just done a weekly Online Onslaught, and on the occasions he HAS recently for
big stories, I've enjoyed them as much as ever.
So I'm hopeful that this New Era of OO brings some of that back, even if it's spread out into quicker, bite-sized chunks. Can't wait to
see what you've got cooking, Rick!

Does the main page see much activity anymore? I always assumed that most OOsters bookmarked the forums and come here directly. To be honest I
haven't read the columns very much since the days of yore when Rick would go on a tear in his RAW reviews and rip the shit out of the likes of
Orton and Chris Masters. When they went PG there wasn't enough to laugh at them about as opposed to the clusterfuck of ineptitude WWE had turned
into by the latter days of Attitude.
